Tool Coating Technology
Tool coatings can be deposited using many different tool coating technologies. Depending on the required functionalities of the tool coating, the following tool coating technologies are available on Hauzer equipment. PVD Coating Technology
PVD coating technology is used for deposition of tool coatings such as TiN, TiCN, AlTiN, TiAlN, CrN, AlCrN, TiSiN coating and Al2O3 coating.
PVD coating technology can be divided in:
- Arc evaporation (including the new circular arc technology CARC+)
- Sputtering technology, such as
- Unbalanced Magnetron Sputtering (UBM)
- Dual Magnetron Sputtering (DMS)
- High Power Impulse Magnetron Sputtering (HIPIMS)
DLC Coating (PACVD Coating Technology)
Plasma Assisted Chemical Vapour Deposition (PACVD) coating technology is used for deposition of tool coatings such as Diamond Like Carbon (DLC coating), which is superior for the machining of cast and wrought aluminium and the coating of plastic injection moulds.

Nitrocoat Duplex Treatment
Nitrocoat Duplex Treatment is a coating technology combining plasma nitriding and PVD coating in one batch. This technology is succesfully applied on e.g. cold forming tools.
